The Yakima Area Arboretum's Education Director and former YVMS board member, Garrett Brenden, will share his amateur experiences in identifying and scouting fall mushrooming spots. He will introduce several easily recognizable species that appear in our local forests during the fall- such as chanterelles, boletes, lobsters, and more- highlighting their value as choice edibles. He'll also discuss strategies for finding new mushroom habitats, offering insights from his perspective as a dedicated amateur mycophile and experience using technology, plant groups, and more to help him locate new spots.
Whether you're new to mushrooming or already enjoy time in the woods, this talk will provide practical tips and fresh inspiration for discovering and appreciating fall mushrooms close to home. Come learn about the Fall mushrooms you can expect to encounter in our area
