History, Mission, & Bylaws

History

The Yakima Valley Mushroom Society was founded in fall of 2010, and was incorporated in the State of Washington as a nonprofit on May 6, 2013. The founding Directors were:

  • Joe Vanicek
  • Mary Camarata
  • Robert Camarata
  • Danae Meyn
  • Dave Richins
  • Jim Christensen
  • Michelle Hogan
  • Bob Howell

Initially, the Society met at the Yakima Area Arboretum until 2018. Meetings are now held at the Selah Grange.

Mission

The purpose of YVMS is to foster the understanding of mycology as a science and a hobby, and to assist related institutions in these purposes. YVMS is open to all persons regardless of race, religion, age, sex, or handicap.

YVMS is a volunteer organization with no paid positions. Members are asked to contribute time and effort in helping the Society fulfill its mission.
